Botox |
||
| Botox is a naturally-occurring chemical that relaxes muscles. It is injected under the skin using an ultrafine needle. This causes the muscles to relax and the overlying skin to relax with it. Within a few weeks, the wrinkles that have been creased into the skin begin to disappear. The extent to which muscles relax is controlled by the dosage. | ||
| Here in New Zealand we seldom do the "frozen expression" look, just aiming for a naturally more youthful, relaxed look. Each dose lasts 3-4 months. I'm often asked, "so if I stop taking Botox, will I age more rapidly?" The answer is no: if you have Botox for 5 years then stop taking it, you'll have save yourself 5 years of wrinkles and won't "catch up" with your chronological age. | ||
